Unable to mention specific user or group in Chatter

Note: This information is in reference to Chatter Groups and does not apply to Public Groups.


Chatter allows you to @mention individual people or groups to call their attention to something relevant to them.  When you write a post, type the @ symbol followed by the first few letters of the person or group name.

Considerations when mentioning users and groups:

 
  • When performing an @ mention search the number of results is limited to the first 25 matching records in the user interface. To narrow down results, type a more specific search term or exact name match.
 
  • Inactive users do not come up in the @mention search results.
 
  • Group Members cannot @mention Broadcast Group.
 

Note:- While mentioning we show the suggestion box only till three words. The reasoning behind this is to hide the suggestion box when someone is trying to use '@' as a part of the statement rather than mentioning someone. You should still be able to search the user or group with the last first three words.
