Unable to @Mention a Specific User or Chatter Group in Salesforce Chatter

Publiceringsdatum: Jun 17, 2026
Beskrivning

Salesforce Chatter allows users to @mention individual people or Chatter Groups to direct their attention to a specific post or comment. To @mention someone, type the @ symbol followed by the first few letters of the person's or group's name in a post or comment field.

Note: This article applies to Chatter Groups only. It does not apply to Public Groups.

Example use case: A Salesforce user tries to @mention a colleague in a Chatter post but the user does not appear in the suggestion dropdown.

Considerations when @mentioning users and Chatter groups in Salesforce:

  • The @mention search returns a maximum of 25 matching records. To find the correct person, type a more specific search term or the user's exact name.
  • Inactive users do not appear in @mention search results.
  • Group Members cannot @mention Broadcast Groups — this is expected behavior.
  • The suggestion box appears only while typing up to three words after the @ symbol. This is by design to prevent the suggestion box from appearing when @ is used as part of a sentence rather than a mention. Search using the first three words of the user's or group's name.
