Opportunity Territory Assignment filter behavior when error occurs

Data pubblicazione: Jun 19, 2026
Descrizione

When Salesforce runs Opportunity Territory Assignment (OTA), opportunities are processed in batches. If an error occurs in a particular batch, all opportunities within that same batch are rolled back — not just the one that caused the error. This rollback behavior mirrors how an allOrNone = true setting works on a database.update Apex DML operation. Opportunities in other batches that did not encounter an error are not affected. Currently, there is no way to override this all-or-nothing batch behavior in Opportunity Territory Assignment.

Risoluzione

Expected Behavior

This behavior is by design. The Opportunity Territory Assignment process uses batch processing where each batch operates as an all-or-none transaction. There is currently no configuration option or workaround to override this rollback behavior.

Recommended Actions to Minimize Impact

To reduce the impact of batch rollbacks during territory assignment:

  1. Review opportunities for data quality issues (missing required fields, invalid territory criteria) before running territory assignment.
  2. Check the territory assignment filter rules to identify conditions that may cause batch failures.
  3. Run territory assignment in smaller scopes (for example, by a subset of opportunities or by territory) to isolate errors to smaller batches and reduce the rollback impact.
