Veröffentlichungsdatum: May 29, 2026
Beschreibung

Issue

When a user composes a new email in Microsoft Outlook and clicks the Send and Add button in the Salesforce for Outlook add-in, nothing happens. The button does not respond. Note: The Add Email button may continue to work correctly.

Affected Product

  • Salesforce for Outlook (Retiring December 2027 — consider migrating to the next-generation Outlook Integration)

Possible Cause

The MAPI32.dll file on the user's Windows machine is corrupted. MAPI32.dll (Messaging Application Programming Interface DLL) is a core Windows system file that Microsoft Outlook uses to process and route email messages. When this file becomes corrupted, Outlook add-in functionality — including the Send and Add button — stops working correctly.

How to Repair MAPI32.dll and Restore the Send and Add Button

Follow these steps to repair the corrupted MAPI32.dll file and restore the Salesforce for Outlook Send and Add functionality:
  1. Close Microsoft Outlook completely.
  2. Uninstall Salesforce for Outlook from the Windows Control Panel.

  3. Go to www.java.com in Internet Explorer and verify you have the most up-to-date version of Java VM installed. (Certain versions of Salesforce for Outlook depend on Java for component rendering.)

  4. Navigate to C:\Windows\system32 and locate the Mapi32.dll file. You may need to take ownership of the file in order to rename it. For instructions, see Take Ownership of a File or Folder or this 3rd party website for Windows 8/10 )

  5. Rename the Mapi32.dll file (for example, rename it to Mapi32.dll.bak).
  6. In the same folder, locate Fixmapi.exe and double-click it (or right-click and select "Run as Administrator") to start the repair process. No dialog box appears, but the process silently creates a new, clean Mapi32.dll file.
  7. Confirm the new Mapi32.dll file has been created in C:\Windows\system32.
  8. Download and reinstall Salesforce for Outlook.
  9. Open Outlook and test the Send and Add button.
