Error 'Scheduling is not enabled for this type' on Default Product Schedule Setup

The "Error: Scheduling is not enabled for this type" error message can appear when trying to specify a default quantity or revenue schedule on a Product. 

This error typically occurs when sales teams try to add products with quantity or revenue schedules (such as subscription products, multi-year contracts, or products with installment payments) but the Product Scheduling feature hasn't been enabled in your org. 
 

Lösning

To resolve this error, you need to enable Product Scheduling for your org, add the scheduling fields to your Product page layout, and configure field-level security for user profiles.


This feature can be enabled by selecting the Quantity Scheduling Enabled or Revenue Scheduling Enabled checkbox.
 

Enable your preferred Product schedule
 

In Salesforce Classic

  1. Go to Setup | Customize | Products | Product Schedules Settings
  2. Select Enable quantity scheduling or Enable revenue scheduling
  3. Click Save.


In Lightning Experience

  1. Go to the Setup | Feature Settings | Sales | Products | Product Schedules Settings
  2. Select Enable quantity scheduling or Enable revenue scheduling.
  3. Click Save.

 

Often these fields are not on the Product page layout. So you must add these two fields before you can establish a schedule.
 

Add the fields for the schedule to the page layout

 

In Salesforce Classic

  1. Go to Setup | Customize | Products | Page Layouts  
  2. Click Edit beside the layout to customize.
  3. Drag and drop the fields Revenue Scheduling Enabled or Quantity Scheduling Enabled.
  4. Click Save.


In Lightning Experience

  1. Go to Setup | Object Manager | Products | Page Layouts
  2. Click the name of the page layout to customize.
  3. Drag and drop the fields Revenue Scheduling Enabled or Quantity Scheduling Enabled.
  4. Click Save.


Note: If the checkbox field is already added to the page layout, you can skip the above steps.

 
When you create a new Product you’ll now see the checkboxes. Select it, then you can now schedule the Product.

Then, set the field accessibility for the System Administrator profile. Go to:
 
In Salesforce Classic
  1. Go to Setup | Administer | Security Controls | Field Accessibility
  2. Click on Product.
  3. Click View by Profiles.
  4. Select the profile for System Administrator.
  5. Find 'Revenue Scheduling Enabled' and click the corresponding value under the Field Access column.
  6. Select Visible.
  7. Click Save.
 
In Lightning Experience
  1. Go to Setup | Security | Field Accessibility
  2. Click Product.
  3. Click View by Profiles.
  4. Select the profile for System Administrator.
  5. Find 'Revenue Scheduling Enabled' and click the corresponding value under the Field Access column.
  6. Select Visible.
  7. Click Save.

Note: If the field has Editable on the Field Access column or if the Visible checkbox is selected, you may skip this step.

Remember, this needs to be done for any other profile that must enable revenue scheduling.
