This article explains how to change the default setting for the 'Send Notification Email' checkbox when creating or editing Tasks in Salesforce Classic.
Important: In Salesforce Lightning Experience, the option to send an email when assigning a task to someone is not displayed. This is a known limitation.
If the org has the 'Enable User Control over Task Assignment Notifications' setting turned on — found in Setup > Activity Settings — users can set their own notification preferences individually via My Settings. See the Considerations documentation for details.
For organizations without the 'Enable User Control over Task Assignment Notifications' setting enabled, users can set their default preference using the steps below.
The following steps apply to Salesforce Classic only for organizations that do not have the 'Enable User Control over Task Assignment Notifications' setting enabled.
This default setting applies to all Task creation and edit pages under all objects and related lists throughout Salesforce Classic. The setting can be changed the next time a non-default value is selected.
Example: If you selected "false" as the default, the next time you select "true" for the checkbox, the "Make this the default setting" option reappears so you can make "true" the new default.
