Recover Your Forgotten Salesforce Username

If you've forgotten your Salesforce username, your System Administrator can recover your login credentials on your behalf. This is the recommended path for recovering a forgotten username. For example, if a user can't log in because they don't remember which email format they used as their username, their System Administrator can look it up directly in the org's user management settings.

Note: Salesforce Support cannot provide or disclose your username under any circumstances.

Contact your System Administrator

Prerequisites:

Search your email inbox for any of the following emails from Salesforce — these will include your username:

  • Subject: Welcome to Salesforce: Verify your account
  • Subject: Finish resetting your Salesforce password

Your System Administrator can recover your login credentials if you have forgotten your username. Salesforce Support cannot provide or disclose your username.


Contact your System Administrator and ask them to look up your username from the User Management settings in Setup.

Salesforce Username Best Practices

  • All Salesforce usernames are unique.
  • Users in different organizations cannot have the same username.
  • Salesforce usernames always use email address format.
  • Salesforce usernames don't have to be real email addresses.
  • By default, Salesforce sends an automated message when a username is created.
  • Your email address can be associated with more than one username.
  • Your email address can only be your username in a single Salesforce org.
