Error 'Transfer record ownership requires read access' When Account ownership Is Changed

Why do I receive a 'Transfer Requires Read' error when transferring an account to another user?

This error may show up when an Account record you own is transferred to another User. This may appear even if the User that is being specified as the new owner has read access to Accounts, Contacts, or Opportunities. Upon transfer of an Account, some records are transferred with the first options that are shown. Using the checkboxes for the other options, select what else you want transferred.

You could try not selecting any of the extra options, to see if they’re blocking.

Contracts in the status of "Draft" or "In Approval" are automatically transferred to the new account owner. So if there are Contracts attached to the Account, the new owner needs "Read" permissions to the Contracts object.
Solución


If the transfer is blocked because of the first three options, you must see whether you can prevent the transfer of those records, before the transfer. This can be done by assigning the mentioned records to another user, who isn’t the current owner or closing them off.

Depending on the profile or license used, you must check whether you can provide more access. Maybe the profile doesn’t allow for access, but the license could, in which case you could add extra permissions to the profile to broaden access.

A user with a Salesforce license has the broadest permissions. If you would use a different license, a Community license, a Force.com license type, or maybe a Chatter license type; access to objects is different. You can't give permission to the related objects.

Another option would be, to not use the Salesforce 'Change Ownership' link, which starts the transfer wizard. Instead, use automation that doesn’t change the ownership of any related records or you can use an API tool such as Workbench.
