Increase the Sharing Rules Limit per Object in Salesforce

Udgivelsesdato: Oct 9, 2026
Beskrivelse

Salesforce limits how many Sharing Rules you can create on each object. Sharing Rules extend record access beyond your organization-wide defaults, and organizations with complex access requirements can reach these limits. This article explains the default and maximum Sharing Rules limits, how to check your current usage, and how to request a limit increase from Salesforce Support.

Løsning

This article answers how many Sharing Rules each Salesforce object allows, how to check how many an object uses today, and how to request an increase when you reach the limit.

Salesforce Sharing Rules Limits per Object

Salesforce applies two separate Sharing Rules limits to each object:

  • All Sharing Rules (owner-based and criteria-based combined): The default limit is 300 per object. Salesforce Support can increase it to a maximum of 500 per object.
  • Criteria-based Sharing Rules only: The default limit is 50 per object. Salesforce Support can increase it to a maximum of 200 per object.

Criteria-based Sharing Rules count toward both limits. For example, if the Account object has 260 owner-based rules and 40 criteria-based rules, it has 300 Sharing Rules in total and is at the general limit, even though it is still under the criteria-based limit of 50.

These limits apply in Professional, Enterprise, Performance, Unlimited, and Developer Editions.

Check How Many Sharing Rules an Object Uses

Before you request an increase, check the current Sharing Rules usage on the object's limits page.

In Lightning Experience

Go to Setup | Object Manager | select the object | Object Limits.

In Salesforce Classic

Go to Setup | Customize | select the object | Limits.

In the Usage column, check these two rows:

  • Sharing Rules (Both Owner- and Criteria-based) shows the total number of Sharing Rules on the object.
  • Sharing Rules (Criteria-based Only) shows the number of criteria-based Sharing Rules on the object.

Review Your Sharing Rules Before You Request an Increase

Too many Sharing Rules can slow down record inserts and updates. As a best practice, review the existing Sharing Rules on the object to decide whether you need a limit increase or whether you can combine or remove rules instead.

Request a Sharing Rules Limit Increase from Salesforce Support

Only Salesforce Support can increase Sharing Rules limits beyond the default. Have a System Administrator submit a limit increase request with Salesforce Support.
