This article explains a current Salesforce platform limitation when working with Salesforce Reports. It is not currently possible to display only the most recent child record within a Report without custom code. Users who need to show the latest related record — for example, the most recent Case Comment, Activity, or child object entry — per parent record will encounter this limitation. Standard Salesforce reporting does not natively support filtering to show only the newest child record per parent.
