Discount setting changes affect prices on existing CPQ Quotes

When changes must be made to a Discount Schedule and Discount Tiers that may impact pricing on existing Quote Lines, the best practice is to create a new Discount Schedule and assign it to relevant products. Current Quote Lines still reference the old Discount Schedule, however, new Quote Lines will look up to the new Discount Schedule.

Note: Editing quotes to re-evaluate new discount tiers does not modify existing contracts or orders related to the quote. In Guidelines for Setting Up CPQ Orders, it explains primary quotes should not be modified after an Order is generated from the primary quote. Misaligned record data can cause issues on subsequent actions such as contracting or renewing/amending from existing contracts.

If changes are made to Block Price Tiers, existing quote lines looking up to the block prices will look up to the new Block Price Tiers. This update can result in price changes for existing quotes if recalculated. To prevent inadvertent price changes, a best practice is to retire the current Product and to create a new product with the new Block Price Tiers. All new Quote Lines will reflect the changes while already existing Quote Lines still reflect the original pricing.
