Send article content via email with Lightning Knowledge enabled

Classic Knowledge article types are replaced by record types in Lightning Knowledge. Note the following configuration differences to enable 'Send Article Content' via email.
 

  • The documentation page for Send Article Content in Email explains setup steps for configuration in organizations with Salesforce Classic Knowledge. Classic Knowledge is structured using Knowledge Article Types which are similar to record types, but fundamentally different and unique to only Classic Knowledge.
   
  • With this key difference in mind, the steps to set communication channel mapping are slightly different when configuring for Lightning versus Classic Knowledge.

Configure communication channel mapping in Lightning Knowledge

 

1. Switch to Lightning Experience
2. From Setup, click the Object Manager tab and select the Knowledge Object.
3. Click the Communication Channel Mappings list and click the New button or Edit action for existing communication channel mappings.
4. Enter a Label and Name and select the Record Type for the Knowledge articles you'd like to share via email.
5. Select and add Email to the 'Selected Channels' list.
6. Select and add the fields you’d like included in the body of an email.
7. Click Save.
8. Repeat to establish communication channel mappings for all desired Knowledge record types.
