Publiseringsdato: Jun 21, 2026
Beskrivelse

When you clone a record in Salesforce, only fields that are included in the object's page layout are copied to the new record. Fields that are not added to the page layout are not transferred during the cloning process.

Steps to Clone a Record

  1. Log in to your Salesforce org.
  2. Open any record.
  3. Click the Clone button and then click Save.

Notes:

  • Within the Accounts object, there is no standard Clone button as there is on Leads or Cases. However, you can create one. See Add a Clone Button to Your Salesforce Records.
  • Cloning a record transfers field values to the new record. It does not clone any related records.

Resolution

When you clone a record in Salesforce, only fields that are included on the page layout are copied to the new record. Fields that are not on the page layout are not transferred during cloning. To ensure all required field values are copied, add the missing field to the page layout before cloning.

How to Add a Field to the Page Layout

  1. Find and open the page layout for the object.
    1. In Lightning Experience: Click the Gear icon, then go to Setup > Object Manager > [Object Name].
    2. In Salesforce Classic (Standard Objects): Go to Setup > Customize > [Object Name].
    3. In Salesforce Classic (Custom Objects): Go to Setup > Create > Objects > [Object Name].
  2. Click Page Layouts.
  3. Drag the required field from the palette and drop it onto the page layout in the desired position.
  4. Click Save to finish. Alternatively, click Quick Save to save and continue editing.

Once the field is added to the layout, clone the record again and verify the field value is copied over.
