Impact of a Salesforce Instance refresh or migration on the Marketing Cloud Connect Integration

Salesforce Instance Refresh/Migration is where we upgrade the infrastructure supporting your instance in our data centers. Following this maintenance, your instance will move to a new data center, and the name of your instance will change.

You would see your Instance change after this refresh, similar to the below example:
EU3.salesforce.com to EU13.salesforce.com.

If your Salesforce Org is integrated using Marketing Cloud Connect, there may be steps needed to ensure your integration is up to date and fully functional.

Ensure that your remote site setting named "MetadataAPI" is using your current instance or is correctly using your custom domain. 
 

If your MetadataAPI is using an instance, similar to https://et4ae5.na40.visual.force.com, then you will want to ensure you update this to the new instance or update it to use your MyDomain.  
 

Steps to access remote site settings needed (as follows)

In Classic, navigate to the Sales or Service Cloud Setup menu

  • Click Security Controls under Administer
  • Click Remote Site Settings
  • Edit the Remote Site "MetadataAPI" with the following information:
  • Remote Site Name: MetadataAPI
  • Remote Site URL: https://{domain}.salesforce.com
  • Description: Remote site setting to make callouts
  • Save the remote site


In Lightning, navigate to the Sales or Service Cloud Setup menu

  • Click Security under Settings
  • Click Remote Site Settings
  • Edit the Remote Site "MetadataAPI" with the following information:
  • Remote Site Name: MetadataAPI
  • Remote Site URL: https://[mydomain]--et4ae5.vf.force.com
  • Description: Remote site setting to make callouts
  • Save the remote site.

If you are using a custom domain and this is already reflected in your Remote Site Settings, then no action is required.
