When navigating to the Chatter tab in Classic, the right side pane recommends people, files, groups, and records to follow and trending topics. In Lightning, the right side pane shows the Einstein Chatter recommendations

Chatter recommendations, files, and records that are listed will get the user's attention which may not be ideal for an organization and admins may want to disable it.
In case, Chatter recommendations interferes with a record's or file's privacy, System Administrators can submit a case to support to turn the feature off. Before submitting a case, an admin must provide the following:
