Unable to See Some Salesforce Contacts

Situation 1: One of my sales reps created a contact and shared the link on chatter however, none of my other sales reps are able to access the link. They receive the "Insufficient Privileges" error while I as the administrator am able to view the contact.    

Situation 2:  One of my sales reps created a contact and it displays in their list view for Contacts.  A manager above the sales rep in the Role Hierarchy is unable to view the contact in their list view.  I am able to view the contact as the administrator in my list view.

Situation 3: Sales reps are unable to locate a specific contact via lookup search results. If your organization has enabled Enhanced Lookups for Contacts, the contact is only visible via enhanced lookup search if the searching user has at least "View All Records" data permissions on the contact object. If your organization is using standard lookups for the Contact object, contacts will not be visible in search results for either standard users (without "View All Records" data) or administrators (with "View All Records" data).

Notes:

  • This article applies to both the Salesforce Classic (Aloha) and Lightning Experience (LEX) User Interfaces.
  • Enhanced lookups are NOT yet available in LEX.
Løsning

Contacts that aren't linked to an Account are always private, regardless of your organization's sharing model. Only the owner of the contact, System Administrators, or users with "View All Records" for Contacts, or "View All Data" can view personal contacts. Users who are lacking "Modify All Records" for contacts, or "Modify All Data" permissions can't edit the Private Contact record.

Sharing rules don't apply to private contacts. If your organization uses divisions, private contacts always belong to the global division.

As a workaround, associate the private contacts to an existing or newly created account so that appropriate sharing and visibility is established to the contact for all users.

Note : To allow Customer Community Plus license users to view all contacts associated with Account they have access to, please enable the setting: Enable Allow community users to see contacts that have not been enabled for communities.
