Unable to Report on Field History Tracking of an Object

Udgivelsesdato: Oct 13, 2022
Beskrivelse
Reporting on field history tracking of a custom object is not available if the object is a detail of a Master-Detail Relationship.
Reason: The existing reports can't drive sharing from another table.

For example, if the custom object was a child of an account and defined as having its parent control the sharing visibility, then the report would have to use the sharing on the account to determine which history rows to display. This capability has not been implemented.

To request this, please vote for

Work around the inability to report on field history tracking:

1.  Create workflows that capture a field's value when the record is saved.
2.  Use Reporting Snapshot to capture data at a point in time. (See the limitations in Help & Training article Troubleshoot Reporting Snapshots)
3.  Change the relationship of the custom object to a "lookup" relationship from a master-detail relationship.

Note: There are implications with this change, and we advise further research into this topic. To do so, please review Object Relationships Overview.
