Activate Salesforce Contracts with Data Loader

Description

When using Salesforce Data Loader to bulk insert Contract records, setting the Status field to Active during the insert operation is not supported and results in the following error:

“Choose a valid contract status and save your changes. Ask your admin for details.”

To address this limitation, follow the recommended two-step workaround outlined in this article.

 

Résolution

Since Data Loader does not support inserting Contract records directly in an Active status, follow the two-step process below:

Step 1: Insert the Contract record with the Status set to Draft.
Step 2: Update the record to change the Status to Activated.
