Set Activity Timeline icon when you import Activity records

The Activity Timeline allows your users to track activities associated with records such as Accounts, Contacts, and Opportunities, in the organization.  To understand the Activity Timeline better, review Activity Timeline Customization Considerations.

In the Activity Timeline, you are able to see different icons depending on the type of activity (events, tasks, calls, and email). When you create these activity records with Data Loader or other API tools, you can set the icon to reflect the appropriate activity type.

The Activity Timeline icon is set with the EventSubType and TaskSubType fields on the Event and Tasks objects. 

Tasks and Events are created as separate objects. If you're creating both Tasks and Events, follow these steps once for each object. 


Note: EventSubType and TaskSubType can only be set on record creation. This field cannot be edited or updated.
 

  1. Create a new CSV file containing the Task or Event records to be created.
  2. In the SubType column, set the appropriate value for the Task or Event. 
    • EventSubtype values:
      • Event
    • TaskSubtype values:
      • Task
      • Email
      • List Email
      • Cadence
      • Call
  3. Save the file and perform an Insert using Data Loader or your preferred API tool.
