When you use report filters on a Custom WITH or WITHOUT Report Type, consider the following:
Filtering the Primary Object will return the records of the Primary Object that meet your filter criteria. These filtered results may or may not have records from the related Child Object.
Records on the Primary Object and any related records on the Child Object will be represented within the grouping value on the Primary Object.
Filtering the Child Object in the same report will return all of the following results:
Grouping on the Child Object will result in the below:
This is expected behavior for the filter criteria and groupings selected on the reports based on Custom WITH or WITHOUT Report Types.
To filter on Child Objects, we recommend using the WITH report types in combination with cross filters.
