Change the date format for each User

Publish Date: Jun 27, 2024
Description

Change how the date format is displayed by updating the "Locale" set on the User record.

Resolution

The options for the date and time displayed for a user are based on the locale selected and cannot be adjusted.

Change the Date format in Classic

1. Login to your Salesforce Org.
2. In the right upper corner, select the drop down arrow next to your Name.
3. Select My Settings.
4. Under My Settings, select Personal.
5. Select Advanced User Details.
6. Click Edit.
7. Select your preferred locale from the drop down list values.
8. Click Save.

Change the Date format in Lightning

1. Login to Salesforce
2. In the right upper corner, select the avatar or the circle icon with your picture.
3. Select Settings.
4. Under "My Personal Information," select Advanced User Details.
5. Click Edit.
6. Select your preferred locale from the drop down list values.
7. Click Save.

Good to Know: Changing the locale on the User detail page will affect the language used in the Calendar. However, other areas of the platform will still respect the default language. For example, if the user's language is set to English (United States) and it is updated to Dutch in the Locale settings, the language on the Calendar will be set to Dutch.
