Change Email Address in Salesforce After Email Verification Link Has Expired

Publiseringsdato: May 26, 2026
Beskrivelse

In Salesforce, when a user's email address is changed, Salesforce sends a verification email to the new address. The user must click the verification link in that email to confirm and activate the new email address. If the verification link expires before the user clicks it, the email address is not updated, and the process must be initiated again by a Salesforce Administrator.

Løsning

If the verification link has expired, the Salesforce Administrator must re-enter the new email address on the user's record to trigger a fresh verification email. The user then has 72 hours to click the new verification link. This process can be repeated as many times as needed until the user successfully clicks the verification link before it expires.
The instructions below must be performed by a Salesforce Administrator in your organization.
To change the email address of a user:

  • Lightning Experience: Setup | Users | Users | Click Edit beside the user's full name
  • Salesforce Classic: Setup | Manage Users | Users | Click Edit beside the user's full name

After the email is updated and saved, the user will receive a new verification email at the new address. Once the user clicks the verification link, the email address is automatically updated on the user's detail page. If the link expires again before the user can click it, repeat the process — update the email address in Setup to send a new verification email.
