When troubleshooting email delivery issues in Salesforce, it is often necessary to capture and share email message headers with Salesforce Support. Email message headers contain metadata about the email's routing path, timestamps, sender authentication records (such as SPF and DKIM), and server hops. This information helps Salesforce Support diagnose why emails may be delayed, blocked, or not delivered as expected.
This article provides steps for capturing message headers in Microsoft Outlook on desktop and Outlook on the Web (OWA).

View and Copy Email Headers in Microsoft Outlook on Desktop (Windows)

  1. Open the email message you want to analyze in Microsoft Outlook.
  2. In the email window, click File in the top menu, then click Properties.
  3. In the Properties dialog, locate the Internet headers section at the bottom of the window.
  4. Click inside the Internet headers text box, press Ctrl+A to select all text, then press Ctrl+C to copy.
  5. Paste the copied header text into a plain text document or directly into your Salesforce support case notes.

View and Copy Email Headers in Microsoft Outlook on Desktop (Mac)

  1. Open the email message you want to analyze.
  2. Click the three-dot menu (More options) at the top right of the message.
  3. Select View Message Details or View Source.
  4. Copy the full header text displayed.

  1. Open the email message in Outlook on the Web at outlook.office.com.
  2. Click the three-dot menu (More options) at the top right of the message.
  3. Select View > View message details.
  4. Copy the full header text displayed in the popup dialog
