When we use flows to trigger email alerts, activities are not automatically logged when the email is sent. Some Users would like a way to track it and when an email was sent under the Activity Related List.
To do this, have a Flow trigger a task (in addition to the email alert that is sent). Assign the task to one of the following: the record owner, creator, a certain role, or a specific user. Optionally, set the task to "Completed" so it will just be used for tracking purposes.
Once the Flow is triggered, the email will be sent and a completed activity will be logged on that particular record simultaneously.
Recently, a change was made where you can automatically log emails to a record’s Activity Timeline when using the Send Email action. You can log an email to a recipient record, which includes leads, contacts, and personal accounts. You can also log an email to a non-recipient record, like an account or opportunity. Or, you can log an email to both. Previously, emails sent using the Send Email action couldn’t be automatically tracked in Activity Timelines. But this is only available in Flow and needs to be configured for every single independent action.
So email alerts generated by automation systems typically do not get stored in Salesforce. So utilising the "Send Email" action within your flow can streamline your communication process.
