Error 'user@domain.com not authorized to send emails' in 'Email to Salesforce'

Description

When BCCing the Email-to-Salesforce email address or the Salesforce for Outlook Add Email functionality, on a communication to a customer, some Users might receive an error message like:
 

'Your email to Salesforce address) (Undelivered): 554 Transaction failed: user@domain.com is not authorized to send emails to this service.

------ This is a copy of the original message, including all headers. ------'
 

This error message means the sender's email address is not included in the list of authorized/acceptable addresses. 


Please note: the error may show up as a "(Undelivered): 551 SenderAuthorization" or even "SenderAuthorization" without an error number.

Résolution


To resolve email send 'authorization' failures

1. Go to:

  • In Salesforce Classic: If 'Enable Improved Setup User Interface' is enabled, click [Your Name] | My Settings | Email | My Email to Salesforce; otherwise, click Setup | My Settings | Email | My Email to Salesforce 
  • In Lightning Experience: Click your avatar | Settings | Email | My Email to Salesforce

2. Under My Acceptable Email Addresses list, add your email address. Note: You can add multiple email addresses, separate them using a comma (no spaces).

3. Click Save.


Note: This list is a mandatory setting and cannot be left blank.
