When you import records with the Data Import Wizard, you may notice that you are unable to map the Record Type field even though you have the appropriate access on the field. This issue occurs for administrators as well as end users.
1. Navigate to Setup and type Profiles into the Quick Find box. Click Profiles.
2. Select the appropriate profile in question.
3. Go to Record Type Settings.
4. Look for the object where the import is being run.
5. Assign at least two record type.
6. Save
Once more than one record type is assigned to your profile, you will be able to select a record type at the 'What do you want to do?' step of the Data Import Wizard.
Note: You can only import records with one record type per import. If your CSV file contains records associated with different record types, modify the file to separate it into a separate CSV file per record type, and be sure to select the appropriate record type during import.
