When you import records with the Data Import Wizard, you may notice that you are unable to map the Record Type field even though you have the appropriate access on the field. This issue occurs for administrators as well as end users.
This article explains why the option to select a record type does not appear in the Salesforce Data Import Wizard, and how to make it appear by assigning record types to your profile.
The option to select a record type in the Data Import Wizard does not appear if any of the following are true:
If your organization has set up record types, make sure the profile associated with your User has the correct record types assigned.
Once more than one record type is assigned to your profile, you can select a record type at the "What do you want to do?" step of the Data Import Wizard.
You can only import records with one record type per import. If your CSV file contains records associated with different record types, modify the file to separate it into a separate CSV file per record type, and be sure to select the appropriate record type during import.
