'Duplicate Send' error message in Marketing Cloud Email

Each email and Subscriber or Publication List has a unique ID. Sending the same EmailID to the same ListID more than once within five minutes will cause this warning message to pop up. Don't worry, the duplicate send warning doesn't prevent the send from occurring, it's a notice to inform you that it may be an email you've already sent.

The two combinations of Sends that result in the warning include:
 
  • Sending an email to a list, and sending the same email to the same list within five minutes. 
  • Sending an email to a Data Extension with a Publication List and sending the same email to the same Publication List again within five minutes. 

Note: Sending an email to a Data Extension with one Publication List and sending the same email again within five minutes to a different Publication List will not create the duplicate send warning.
