Delete preloaded sample data in new Salesforce organizations

Publiceringsdatum: Jun 1, 2026
Beskrivning

When a new Salesforce org is created — whether during a trial or an initial paid subscription — the org is pre-populated with sample Accounts, Contacts, and Opportunities. These records are included to demonstrate Salesforce functionality and help new users explore the platform.
It is important to delete this sample data before you begin entering real business data to avoid confusion between test records and production records.

Lösning

The following options describe how to delete sample data from your Salesforce organization. Review the Delete Trial Data article for complete details.

Option 1 — Delete All Data (Trial Orgs Only)

Use this option if your org is still in Trial status and you want to remove all data at once.

  1. Navigate to Setup.
  2. Enter Delete into the Quick Find box.
  3. Select Delete All Data.
Note: The Delete All Data tool removes ALL data from your organization permanently. This action cannot be undone. Do not use this option unless you intend to delete all data in the org.

Option 2 — Mass Delete Only Sample Data (Trial and Paid Subscriptions)

Use this option to delete only the sample data, while keeping any other records you may have already created.

  1. Locate a sample record (any Account or Contact). Find the Created By stamp on the Page Layout. Copy the date and time. All sample data is created at the same time — the timestamp of org creation.
  2. Navigate to Setup.
  3. Enter Delete into the Quick Find box and select Mass Delete Records.
  4. Select a type of Record that you wish to delete, such as Accounts. Review the notes which state the records that will be deleted.
  5. Under Step 3, set the filter: Created Date equals [paste the Created Date from the sample record].
  6. Review Steps 4 and 5 conditions, then click Search. All records matching the criteria are returned.
  7. Review the list to confirm these are the records you want to delete. Select the checkboxes next to the records, then click Delete.

Repeat this process for each type of record you want to remove (Contacts, Leads, etc.).

Notes:
  • Accounts have related child records (such as sample Cases). Delete child records first before deleting parent Accounts to avoid errors.
  • Account child records such as Opportunities cannot be deleted with the Mass Delete Records tool. Use Data Loader or Dataloader.io to delete child records before proceeding to delete the parent Account records.
