Scope of Support for Buttons

Fecha de publicación: Apr 2, 2026
Descripción

Salesforce Premier Support provides assistance for standard buttons (such as New and Edit) that are included out of the box.

However, support for custom buttons is limited because they often involve custom code or configurations outside standard functionality.

Solución

Salesforce support coverage depends on whether the issue involves standard functionality or custom implementations.

Supported by Salesforce Support

Salesforce Support can assist with issues related to standard buttons, such as:

  • The New button not appearing
  • The Edit button not responding
  • Error messages when clicking standard buttons
  • Issues with standard buttons or links that pass values in Lightning Experience

Not Supported by Salesforce Support

Custom buttons are generally out of scope, especially when they include:

  • JavaScript
  • HTML
  • Custom URL parameters (URL hacks)
  • Custom logic or integrations
  • Buttons invoking custom Lightning components

Note:

  • Support for Visualforce buttons may be available if your contract includes Developer Support
  • Custom Lightning components may also require Developer Support

Example of Unsupported Customization

Custom URL hacks that pass field values (for example, prepopulating fields via URL parameters) are not supported by Salesforce Support.

url = url + "retURL={!currentOpportunity.Id}/00OU0000002298j?pv0={!Campaign.Id}"

Recommended Approach

  • Use standard Salesforce features wherever possible
  • For custom implementations:
    • Consult internal developers, or
    • Use Salesforce Developer Forums / Trailblazer Community
