Customize Salesforce Task and Event Page Layouts

System administrators can edit the page layouts for the Task and Event object in Professional, Enterprise, and Unlimited Editions.

Notes:

  • On the Task page layouts, administrators can customize the layout of fields on the Task page, as well as customize the values of standard field picklists.
  • On the Event page layouts, administrators can customize the layout of fields on the Event page, as well as customize the values of standard field picklists.
  • Administrators can add up to 100 custom fields to Activities by clicking on the Activity custom field link. These custom fields may be used in page layouts for either Task or Event, or both.
  • By sharing the custom fields for both Task and Event, managers are able to report on these fields across all Activities.
  • If you don't see the 'Reminder Set' Field available to drag on to the page layout for Task and Event, it may need to be activated first. Please refer to the following article for activation instructions: Update the 'Reminder Set' field for a Task or Event object
  • The Comment field for Task and Description field for Event is the same field. Any changes made will appear on both object's layouts. (eg: Help text added to either field will show on both fields).

Customize the Tasks or Event pages

In Lightning Experience

  1. Click the gear iconSetupObject Manager.
  2. Select the Task or Event object.
  3. Select Page Layouts.
     
  4. Select the page layout to customize.

In Salesforce Classic

  • Original Setup User Interface
  1. Click your nameSetup | App Setup | Customize | Activities.
  2. Select Task Page Layouts or Event Page Layouts.
  3. Click Edit on the page layout to customize.
     
  • Improved Setup User Interface
  1. Click Setup | Build | Customize | Activities.
  2. Select Task Page Layouts or Event Page Layouts.
  3. Click Edit on the page layout to customize.
