The 'More Decimals on Price' feature in Salesforce lets you set Product Price values with up to 8 decimal places. This article describes the feature and its implications before you request it.
Does your company sell items at a very small price, typically in large quantities? A very small price is defined as 1/1000th of 1 currency unit or less, for example $0.001 or as low as $0.00000001.
Review this article and work with Salesforce Support so you understand the implications before Support enables this feature for you. See the article "Enable 'More Decimals on Price'" in Additional Resources for how to request it.
Notes:
This feature does NOT affect the decimal places of the Quantity field. Quantity is fixed to 2 decimals only. You may upvote the Idea on IdeaExchange to edit the decimal places for Quantity.
This article answers what to consider before Salesforce Support enables the 'More Decimals on Price' feature, which lets Product Price fields use up to 8 decimal places.
Turning the feature on opens up the Product Price field so it can be edited for up to 8 decimals to the right of the decimal point. The display always shows at least the currency-length number of digits, and up to 8 depending on how many digits the value needs.
For example, in USD, the values below display in the following manner:
Price formats are no longer enforced or defaulted and can therefore vary:
In reports, price fields are right aligned and may not line up vertically at the decimal point if formats vary.
The feature can be turned off again for your org on request. In that case, prices are rounded back down to the currency-length number of digits. For example, if you had a price of $0.12345 for a product, it is rounded back to $0.12 if the feature is disabled.
For organizations with Multi-Currency, the 'More Decimals on Price' feature only displays the specified number of decimals if the selected currency on the record is the same as the corporate currency. Otherwise, it displays 6 decimals by default. For example, if USD is the corporate currency, EUR 10.123 displays as EUR 10.123000.
