  1. Select your preferred language from the Language dropdown.
  2. You may also want to modify your Locale setting to control the formatting of numbers, dates, and phone numbers.
  3. Click Save.

You should now see the Salesforce text in the desired language.

Note: Some items aren’t automatically switched to the new language because they’re global data for your organization. Your administrator must change those items. For example: 'Recently Viewed,' 'Recently Modified' and 'Recently Created.'

Set one standard language for your organization

If you want to standardize your entire company on a particular language and locale, an administrator must modify or translate some global data for the organization:

  1. Click Setup | Administration Setup | Company Profile | Company Information | Edit (Classic) OR Setup | Company Information (Lightning) and change the 'Default Language,' 'Default Locale,' and 'Currency Locale.' All new users inherit these 'Language and Locale' settings.

  2. Click Setup | Administration Setup | Translation Workbench (Classic) OR Setup | Translation Workbench (Lightning) to translate the values for several setup components, including Button and Link labels, Record Types, Address Country/State, and all of your organization's picklists, including:
  • Events (Home tab)
  • Tasks (Home tab)
  • Leads
  • Accounts
  • Contacts
  • Opportunities
  • Product
  • Cases
  • Solutions
  • Campaigns
  • Partner Role (Account tab)
  • Contact Role (Opportunities tab)

  1. Click Edit This Message in the sidebar of the 'Home' page to translate any 'Messages' and 'Useful Links. '
  2. To translate your organization's public email templates:

In Salesforce Classic
Setup | Administer | Communication Templates | Classic Email Templates

In Lightning Experience
Gear Icon | Setup | Administration | Email | Classic Email Templates

  1. On the tab overview pages, translate the names of the public list views for all record types:
  • Campaigns
  • Leads
  • Accounts
  • Contacts
  • Opportunities
  • Products
  • Forecasts
  • Cases
  • Solutions
  • Activities (Click the list view icon under the calendar on the Home tab)
  • Users
In Salesforce Classic
Setup | Administer | Manage Users | Users

In Lightning Experience
Gear Icon | Setup | Administration | Users | Users

  1. Translate any other shared items that you’ve created for your organization, such as:
  • Public Reports
  • Public Mail Merge Templates
  • Custom Fields
  • Lead Queue Names
  • Case Queue Names
  • Custom Links

  1. Enterprise Edition administrators may also want to change the names of the standard page layouts.

These modifications apply to all users in your organization, even if a particular user doesn’t switch his or her personal Language to the target language.

Note: Some global items can’t be changed. These are:

  • Standard mail merge templates
  • Default tasks assigned to new users
