Mail merge in Salesforce Classic allows you to generate personalized Word documents using merge fields that pull data from Salesforce records. There are two types of mail merge available in Salesforce Classic: Standard Mail Merge (client-side, requires ActiveX, Internet Explorer only) and Extended Mail Merge (server-side, no plug-in required, supports all Salesforce-supported browsers and Windows/Mac OS). Extended Mail Merge is the recommended option as Standard Mail Merge does not support TLS 1.1 and has been retired. 1. Allows envelopes and labels.
2. Sends the generated Mail Merge Word Doc out in email to the user who initiates the merge (does not open automatically like Standard Mail Merge).
3. Allows an option to copy generated Mail Merge Word Doc into the Documents tab of your Salesforce Org.
