Setup and display of converted Lead status values

Fecha de publicación: Jul 16, 2026
Descripción

When converting a Lead in Salesforce, the system requires the user to select a Converted Status value before the Lead can be converted into an Account and a Contact.

This article explains how Salesforce administrators configure which Lead Status values are available during Lead conversion, how to remove the Converted designation from a Lead Status value, and how record type assignments determine which converted status values appear for different users during the conversion process.

This applies to both Salesforce Classic and Lightning Experience.

In Salesforce Classic

In Lightning Experience

  1. Go to Gear icon > Setup > Object Manager > Lead > Fields & Relationships > Lead Status.

  2. Click Edit next to the Lead Status value you want to modify.

  3. Select the Converted checkbox to make the value available during Lead conversion. You can designate more than one converted status value.

  4. Click Save.

How to Remove Converted Status from a Lead Status Value

To remove the Converted designation from a Lead Status value, click Edit next to the value and clear the Converted checkbox.

How Converted Status Values Are Determined During Lead Conversion

If Lead Record Types are not used, all configured converted status values are available on the Lead conversion page.

If Lead Record Types are used, the values displayed during Lead conversion are taken from the default Lead Record Type assigned to the profile of the user performing the conversion, not from the Lead Record Type or Lead Process assigned to the Lead being converted.

Example: If the Lead being converted uses Record Type A, but the user performing the conversion has Record Type B set as their profile's default record type, the conversion page displays the converted status values associated with Record Type B, not Record Type A.

Note: The default Lead Status value cannot be marked as Converted. If the user does not select a Lead Status value that has the Converted checkbox enabled, the Lead cannot be converted.
