Unable to see the HTML Email Status Report

To view the HTML Email Status Report in Salesforce, the following prerequisites must be met:

  • Users must have access to the Contact object.
  • HTML Email Status functionality must be enabled in Activity Settings.
  • The HTML Email Status Related List must be added to the Contact page layout.
  • The HTML Email Status report type must not be hidden.

If any of these conditions are not met, the HTML Email Status Report will not be visible or accessible to users.

Overview

This article explains how to enable the HTML Email Status report in Salesforce and add the required related list to the Contact page layout. HTML email tracking monitors open and click activity on HTML emails sent from Salesforce. Note: HTML Email Status tracking is not retroactive — tracking begins only from the time the feature is enabled.
Before following the steps below, ensure the user's profile has access to the Contact object. Review User Profile Permission Descriptions to learn more.

Enable the HTML Email Status Functionality

  1. Navigate to Activity Settings from Setup:
    1. In Salesforce Classic: Setup > Build > Customize > Activities > Activity Settings
    2. In Lightning Experience: Setup > Platform Tools > Feature Settings > Sales > Activity Settings
  2. Select the Enable Email Tracking checkbox.
  3. Click Submit.

Add 'HTML Email Status' Related List to the Contact Page Layout

  1. Navigate to the Contact page layout from Setup:
    1. In Salesforce Classic: Setup > Build > Customize > Contacts > Page Layouts
    2. In Lightning Experience: Setup > Object Manager > Contacts > Page Layouts
  2. Click Edit next to the layout you want to modify.
  3. Click Related Lists on the palette at the top of the window.
  4. Drag and drop the HTML Email Status Related List onto the page layout.
  5. Save your changes.
