Steps to translate are provided below, through the 'rename tabs and labels' section in setup, but the custom object related list still appears in the original language.

When using Salesforce Translation Workbench, translating custom object labels via Setup > Rename Tabs and Labels may not update the related list label on the page layout. This article explains how to use Translation Workbench to correctly translate custom object related list labels.

Use Translation Workbench to translate custom object related list labels 

Use the Translation Workbench in Salesforce Setup to update the related list label for a custom object in your target language.

Salesforce Classic: Setup | Translation Workbench | Translate
Lightning Experience: Gear icon | Setup | User Interface | Translation Workbench | Translate

  1. Language = [Select your target language, e.g. French]
  2. Setup Component = Custom Field
  3. Object = [Select the custom object, e.g. My_Custom_Object__c]
  4. Aspect = Related List Label
  5. There are 2 columns, 1 for the master list label and one for its translation.
  6. Double click in the 'translation' column where the custom field label has the value 'Account,' type the translated text and Save.
