Описание

Issue

When attempting to enable an Account as a Partner Account by clicking the Enable as Partner button, the following error is displayed:

"Unable to Access Page — The value of a parameter contains a character that is not allowed or the value exceeds the maximum allowed length. Remove the character from the parameter value or reduce the value length and resubmit."

Cause

This error occurs when one or more Contacts associated with the Account are currently owned by a Partner User. Salesforce prevents this operation by design because Partner Users are not permitted to own Partner Contacts. Additional related error messages that may appear in this scenario include:

  • "Cannot Assign Portal Account or Contact to Portal User"
  • "An error occurred while trying to update the record. Please try again. portal users cannot own partner accounts"
Решение

Resolution: Update Contact Ownership Before Enabling Partner Account

To resolve this error, update the ownership of the Contacts associated with the Account so that they are owned by internal, non-Partner Users. Follow the steps below:

  1. Identify all Contacts associated with the Account that is being converted to a Partner Account.
  2. For each Contact that is currently owned by a Partner User, update the Owner field to an internal, non-Partner User.
  3. Once all associated Contacts are owned by internal users, click Enable as Partner on the Account again.

The operation completes successfully after all related Contacts are owned by internal users.
