In Salesforce, the Notes & Attachments related list is not automatically added to custom objects. This article explains how to manually add the Notes & Attachments related list to an existing custom object page layout in both Salesforce Classic and Lightning Experience.

Steps to Add Notes & Attachments Related List

  1. Navigate to:
    • In Salesforce Classic: Setup > Build > Create > Objects
    • In Lightning Experience: Gear Icon > Setup > Object Manager
  1. Click the name of the desired custom object.
  2. Scroll down to the Page Layouts related list and click Edit next to the appropriate page layout.
  3. Select the Related Lists option from the palette at the top of the page.
  4. Drag and drop the Notes & Attachments related list to the desired location on the page layout.
  5. Click Save.
