Why Salesforce Report Charts Display an 'Other' Category and How to Remove It

Beschreibung

In Salesforce Reports, a report chart may display an Other grouping that does not appear to match any named grouping in the underlying report data. This is expected platform behavior and is controlled by the chart rendering engine.

Why this happens: Salesforce report charts automatically group values that represent less than 3% of the report's grand total into a single "Other" category. This applies to all chart types, including bar, line, pie, donut, and funnel charts.

Example: In a report summarizing Opportunities by Region, the region "New England" accounts for 2.42% of the total. Since 2.42% is less than 3%, it is grouped under "Other" rather than shown as its own segment. If multiple regions fall below 3% — for example, New England at 2.42% and Canada at 0.61% — both are combined into "Other," which displays as approximately 3.1% (rounded).

Lösung

To remove or reduce the "Other" grouping from a Salesforce report chart, use one of the following approaches:

Option 1 – Remove "Other" for Pie, Donut, or Funnel Charts

For pie, donut, or funnel chart types, you can disable the automatic grouping by unchecking the "Combine Small Groups into Others" option:

  1. Click the Reports tab and open the affected report.
  2. Click the gear icon (Chart Properties) at the top right corner of the report chart.
  3. In the chart properties panel, uncheck Combine Small Groups into Others.
  4. Save the report.

Option 2 – Adjust the Report Data

If you are using a bar or line chart (where the option above is not available), consider filtering the report to exclude groups that represent less than 3% of the total, or restructure groupings to consolidate smaller segments into larger named categories.
