Salesforce Mass Mail Merge Labels Skipping Records — Extended Mail Merge Template Fix

Fecha de publicación: Jul 15, 2026
Descripción

Issue: Skipping Records in Mass Mail Merge for Labels

With Extended Mail Merge, generate mail merge Word documents—such as form letters with matching envelopes and address labels—for multiple records at the same time.  Further information on this feature can be found below:

Using the Mass Mail Wizard

When using the Mass Mail Merge feature to generate mailing labels, some customers have found a skipping behavior in their generated mail merge documents.  Specifically, when reviewing the generated document, they find that every 3rd, 7th, etc record is skipped/excluded from the mail merge document.

Root Cause

The root cause of the "skipping" behavior during a Mass Mail Merge for labels, is an improperly formatted MS Word document that is used as the source for the Mail Merge template. More specifically, the incorrect placement of the 'next record' merge field in the MS Word document can/will cause the skipping behavior.

Resolution: Use a Correctly Formatted Word Template

A sample MS Word document with the correct 'next record' merge field placement is attached to this article. Note: This attachment is available when viewing the article directly in Salesforce Help and cannot be accessed via Agentforce. Visit the article on help.salesforce.com to download the sample template.

To resolve this issue, delete your older template, and upload a new template using the sample file attached. Further information on how to create mail merge templates can be found below:
