In Salesforce Chatter, posts are stored permanently unless deleted by an authorized user. This article explains who has permission to delete Chatter posts in Salesforce, how Chatter Moderators can manage posts, and the limitations of preventing post deletion using standard Salesforce functionality.
The following users have permission to delete Chatter posts:
To delete a post, click the drop-down button next to the post and select Delete.
Salesforce Chatter Moderators are users with elevated privileges beyond standard Chatter user access. Moderator privileges are available in Group, Professional, Enterprise, Unlimited, Contact Manager, and Developer Editions.
A Chatter Moderator is a Chatter user with the following additional privileges:
As a Salesforce administrator, you can assign Moderator privileges to Chatter Free Users and remove them if needed. See Assign Moderator Privileges to Chatter Free Users for steps.
It is not possible within standard Salesforce functionality to completely prevent users from deleting their own Chatter posts. For organizations that require this restriction, consider using a third-party AppExchange app.
