Salesforce for Outlook (SFO) Installation Fails with ".NET Programmability Support" Error

게시 일자: Jun 2, 2026
상세 설명
Important: Salesforce for Outlook (SFO) was retired in June 2023. Salesforce recommends migrating to Outlook Integration and Einstein Activity Capture. This article is preserved for historical reference.

Issue

Salesforce for Outlook (SFO) installation fails with the following error:

"Before you can install Salesforce for Outlook, you must first install .NET Programmability Support for Outlook 2013. If you need help, contact your system administrator."

In some cases, there is no error message during installation, but after installation completes, no Salesforce for Outlook icon appears in the Windows System Tray. Double-clicking the Salesforce for Outlook application does nothing.
This issue most commonly occurs with Office 365 or Office 2013 Click-to-Run installations.

Cause

The .NET Programmability Support for Microsoft Office is missing, not installed, or corrupted.
Office 365 and Click-to-Run installations download only the minimum resources required to run Office applications. The .NET Programmability Support component — required for Salesforce for Outlook to integrate with Outlook — is not always included in these minimal installations and may need to be added separately.
Additionally, if the SFO installer prompts you to install .NET Framework 4.5.2 even though .NET 3.5 and 4.6.2 are already installed as part of Windows 10, this indicates a known issue with SFO version 3.1 on Windows 10. Download and install the latest version of SFO to resolve this (addressed in SFO version 3.2).

솔루션

Step 1: Uninstall Salesforce for Outlook

If SFO is already installed, uninstall it first. Ensure you have local administrative rights on your computer before proceeding. Close Microsoft Outlook and all other programs.

Step 2: Open the Run Command

Press and hold the Windows key on your keyboard and press the R key to open the Run command box.

Step 3: Open Programs and Features

Type appwiz.cpl and click OK. This opens Control Panel > Programs > Programs and Features.

Step 4: Locate Microsoft Office and Click Change

Locate your version of Microsoft Office 2013 in the list and click Change.

  • For full Office installations (Office 2010, 2013 Pro, or similar): You see an "Add or Remove Features" option. Select .NET Programmability Support and add it.
  • For Office 365 or Click-to-Run installations: You see a "Repair" option only. Always choose Online Repair (not Quick Repair).

Step 5: Restart and Reinstall

After completing Step 4, restart your machine, then reinstall Salesforce for Outlook.

Alternative: Use Microsoft Support and Recovery Assistant (SaRA)

You can also use the Microsoft Support and Recovery Assistant (SaRA) to verify and repair your Office installation automatically.
