Error 'Record Type Unavailable' when a Lead is Converted

When a Lead is converted, the following error is displayed:

"Record type unavailable. Cannot find default record type of the appropriate type."

Lösung


Causes of the 'Record type unavailable' error when converting a Lead

 

  1. The organization has Person Accounts enabled and the affected User's profile doesn’t have access to the Person Account and/or Business Account record types.

 

In Salesforce Classic

  1. Click Setup.
  2. Under Manage User, click Profiles.
  3. Select the profile of the affected user.
  4. Under Record Type Settings section, click Edit.
  5. Add the Person Account record type.
  6. Click Save.

 

In Lightning Experience

  1. Click the gear icon.
  2. Click Setup.
  3. Under Users, click Profiles.
  4. Select the profile of the affected user.
  5. Under Record Type Settings section, click Edit.
  6. Add the Person Account record type.
  7. Click Save.
 
Steps for orgs with Enhanced Profile User Interface enabled in Lightning Experience
  1. Click the gear icon.
  2. Click Setup.
  3. Under Users, click Profiles.
  4. Select the profile of the affected user.
  5. Select Object Settings.
  6. Select the object.
  7. Click Edit.
  8. Ensure that the box in the person accounts row is selected under the assigned record type. Also, ensure that it was a default record type.
  9. Click Save.

 

  1. Either the record owner or the user converting the record lack access to the appropriate record type.
  2. The affected user's profile has the default record type set to '-Master-' for the Account, Contact, Opportunity, and/or Task objects.

 

To resolve this error, check the points above. Make sure that the record types are made available for the profile, and that the default record type is set appropriately for the objects listed above. To learn how, review:
