Salesforce for Outlook Sync Error: API Programmatic Usage Limit Reached

Fecha de publicación: Jun 11, 2026
Descripción

This article explains why Salesforce for Outlook sync fails with an API usage limit error, and what steps to take to resolve the issue. When syncing recurring events with Salesforce for Outlook, the sync process uses API calls, which count toward your org's daily API request limit.
When the API limit is reached, the sync fails with the following error message:
"Your last sync failed due to a temporary programmatic usage limit. We'll attempt to sync again automatically."

Why This Error Occurs

Salesforce for Outlook uses API calls to sync recurring calendar events. Each sync cycle consumes API requests. When your org reaches its daily API request limit, the sync process stops and returns this error.

What to Do

This error is temporary and resolves automatically. When the daily API limit resets (typically at midnight Pacific Time), the sync resumes without any manual action required.
If this error occurs frequently, consider the following:

  1. Contact your Account Executive (AE) to request an increase to your org's API request limit.
  2. Review which integrations are consuming the most API calls in Setup > System Overview > API Usage.
  3. Reduce the number of recurring events synced, or limit the sync scope in Salesforce for Outlook settings.
