Change the Classic Letterhead Logo in an Email Template

Date de publication: May 11, 2026
Description

When the letterhead on an HTML email template needs to be updated, you may find the letterhead field is locked or that you cannot select a different letterhead after the template has been created. Once an email template with a letterhead is created, users cannot select a different letterhead for that template.
This article explains how to swap the logo on an existing Classic Letterhead so that all email templates using that letterhead are updated automatically.

Résolution

Before You Begin

Ensure your new logo has been saved in the Documents object in Salesforce Classic as a .png or .jpg file with the Externally Available Image checkbox selected. This step is required for the logo to appear as a selectable image in the letterhead editor. The Documents object is only accessible in Salesforce Classic.

Update the Classic Letterhead's Logo

In Salesforce Classic:

  1. Navigate to Setup > Communication Templates > Classic Letterheads.
  2. Select your letterhead by clicking on the label.
  3. Click Edit Letterhead > Select Logo.
  4. Click to select the appropriate image, then click Save.

In Lightning Experience:

  1. Navigate to Gear icon > Setup > Email > Classic Letterheads.
  2. Select your letterhead by clicking on the label.
  3. Click Edit Letterhead > Select Logo.
  4. Click to select the appropriate image, then click Save.

Notes:

  • If you have multiple letterheads using the same logo, repeat the above steps for each letterhead.
  • Classic Letterheads cannot be used in Lightning Email Templates. Use Enhanced Letterheads instead for Lightning templates.
