Error 'field integrity exception' when you migrate sharing rules with change sets

Veröffentlichungsdatum: Jun 10, 2026
Beschreibung

You may encounter an error when you attempt to validate or deploy a change set that contains roles.  Error:

  • 'field integrity exception: unknown (Case access level below organization default)'
Lösung

Root Cause

This error occurs if the Organization-wide Defaults (OWD) grant different access levels between the source and target environments. For example, if the source org has Case OWD set to 'Private', the role definition includes Case access details. If the target org is set to 'Public Read/Write/Transfer', the role cannot accept those access details — resulting in the 'field integrity exception: unknown (Case access level below organization default)' error.

Resolution

To resolve this error, update the Sharing Settings for the affected object in the target organization to match the settings in the source organization.

  • Lightning Experience: Gear icon → Setup → Security → Sharing Settings
  • Salesforce Classic: Setup → Security Controls → Sharing Settings

Zusätzliche Ressourcen

For example, if you are deploying a change set from a sandbox where Case sharing is 'Private' to a production org where Case sharing is 'Public Read/Write/Transfer', the change set deployment will fail with this error.
