How Long New User Verification Links Remain Valid Before Expiring

Date de publication: Jan 30, 2026
Description

New user verification links (Verify Account links) sent to new users expire based on your organization's session settings. This feature is useful for ensuring secure onboarding new users must set their password within the configured window before the link expires. For example, if a user doesn't check their email promptly after being added to an org, their Verify Account link may expire before they can set their password, preventing them from logging in. Administrators can configure the expiration period to match their organization's security and onboarding requirements.

Résolution

The expiration period and behavior of the Verify Account link sent to new users are determined by your organization's session settings.

Expiration Settings:

The expiration period for the Verify Account link is controlled by your organization's session settings. It can be configured to one of the following durations:

  • 1 day

  • 7 days (default)

  • 180 days

Link Behavior and Invalidation:

The Verify Account link behaves as follows:

  • Verification Page: Clicking the link opens a page prompting the user to confirm they want to set their password.

  • Click Does Not Invalidate: Simply clicking the Verify Account link does not invalidate it — the link remains valid until the configured expiration period has passed.

  • Invalidation After Completion: The link becomes invalid immediately after the user successfully sets their password.

  • Expiration: Once the configured period (1 day, 7 days, or 180 days) has elapsed, the link is no longer valid and the user cannot use it to log in.

Resolving Expired Links:

If the Verify Account link has expired or become invalid, the user cannot use it to set their password. A System Administrator must reset the user's password to trigger a new verification email containing a fresh link.

If you need the expiration window adjusted beyond the available settings and have reviewed all relevant documentation, please have a System Administrator submit a limit increase request with Support.
