Salesforce Custom Object Tab Not Visible For Users

Дата публикации: May 18, 2026
Описание

If you have created a Custom Object and a tab for it in Salesforce, and the tab is not visible to non-admin users, first check user permissions.

User Permissions Needed

  • To create or change Tab layouts: Customize Application
  • To create or edit Users: Manage Users

Note: Some users cannot see the tab of a custom object because the 'Launch New Custom Tab Wizard after saving this custom object' checkbox was not selected when creating the custom object. Enabling this option allows users to modify tab settings and see the new object tab.

Решение

Custom Object tabs may not appear for non-admin users due to several configuration issues. Check the deployment status, profile permissions, and tab visibility settings in the order below.

Check Deployment Status (All Editions)

If the Custom Object is still in the status of "In Development," it is not available to users. Follow these steps to check and update the deployment status:
In Salesforce Lightning Experience:

  1. Select the gear icon > Setup.
  2. Go to Object Manager.
  3. Select the name of the object.
  4. Click Edit.
  5. In the Deployment Status section, ensure it is set to Deployed, then click Save.

In Salesforce Classic:

  1. Go to Setup > Create > Objects.
  2. Click the name of the object.
  3. Select Edit.
  4. In the Deployment Status section, ensure it is set to Deployed, then click Save.

Check Profile Permissions (Professional, Enterprise, and Above)

If you have verified deployment status and the tab is still hidden, check the following:

  • The tab may be hidden at the Profile level. Go to the user's Profile and change the tab setting to Default On.
  • Check if the Object permission checkboxes are enabled for the profile (Read / Write / Delete / View All Records / Modify All Records). Update these as per your business requirements.

Important: You cannot edit permissions on a Standard Profile. If the user has a Standard Profile, create a Custom Profile and grant the "View" permission, or create a Permission Set that grants this access and assign it to the individual users.

  • If the Custom Object is on the Detail side of a Master-Detail Relationship, confirm the Master Object is visible to the user — users cannot see the child tab if they lack access to the parent.
  • Users can also modify their own tab settings. Check whether the user has hidden the tab themselves via their personal tab settings. See: Customize Your Tabs in Salesforce Classic.

Check Field-Level Security (FLS)

Field-Level Security (FLS) controls which fields users can see on an object. If FLS is restricting access to key fields on the Custom Object, the tab may appear to be missing or inaccessible. Review FLS settings on the object's fields for the user's profile.
