Unable to edit a profile with Platform User license

Description


Salesforce administrators may receive the following error when editing a Standard Platform User profile or a cloned Custom Profile associated with the Salesforce Platform license (formerly Force.com):
Error: 'Please fix the following: Standard tabsets are not permitted for this profile.'
The Salesforce Platform license restricts which standard application tabs are accessible. This error occurs when the profile being edited has Console apps or Standard Object tabs configured that are not permitted for Platform license users. This article explains how to identify and resolve the tab settings causing this error.

Resolve The Error

  1. Test editing and saving the Profile to confirm whether this error is caused by your current edit or was a pre-existing issue.
  2. Does the profile have any Console apps associated to it? If yes, disable the app for the profile.
  3. Are there any Standard Tabs enabled other than Accounts, Contacts, Reports, Dashboards, and Documents? If yes, set those tabs to Hidden.

Resolution Steps in Salesforce Classic

  1. Click Setup | Manage Users | Profiles.
  2. Click the Edit link to the left of the Profile.
  3. In the Tab Settings area, select Tab Hidden for all non-permitted Standard Tabs.
  4. Click Save.

Resolution Steps in Lightning Experience

  1. Click the Gear icon, then go to Setup | Administration | Users | Profiles.
  2. Click the Edit link to the left of the Profile.
  3. In the Tab Settings area, select Tab Hidden for all non-permitted Standard Tabs.
  4. Click Save.
